In 1994, we had the first published National Standards for Music. In 2010, the RI Board of Regents adopted the Rhode Island Arts Grade Span Expectations for Music.

As of January 2017, Rhode Island has now officially adopted the National Core Arts Standards for Music. RIMEA hosted a Professional Development day in January 2017 to help teachers navigate these "new waters". In September of 2017 and January 2018, NKHS hosted two Saturday PDs on the NCAS.
